Our story

A quarter-century of building capacity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Since its inception in 2000 as Iqra University Peshawar, the institution has gradually diversified its degree programs in response to rapid changes in management, engineering and computer science — always evaluated against the job market and the foreseeable future. In recognition of its distinctive contribution to quality education, the Higher Education Commission elevated the status of the Peshawar campus to a Government Chartered and HEC-recognized independent university, now known as Iqra National University (INU).

INU was also the first university in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to introduce Fashion and Textile Design as a discipline, developed with the support of internationally trained faculty.

Today, INU is home to over 5,000 students — the largest private-university enrollment in the province — across nine schools spanning Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, Art & Design and English Language.

Chancellor's Message

Education opens vistas for a bright future.

INU ensures that this panorama is not only retained but expanded through the provision of quality education. Although a relatively young chartered university, INU has come a long way — offering conducive learning environments, well-equipped and up-to-date laboratories, a well-stocked library, and sports facilities unmatched by any other private university in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. INU is proud to be home to the largest number of students enrolled at any private university in the province.
